Town of Brookhaven's most historic park, circa 1790, includes the manor house, one-room school house and barns. It encompasses 35 acres. Each year it hosts the Longwood Country Far during September, followed by a fall festival and "Santa Comes to Longwood" in December. Call to confirm dates. Among its on-going programs, which are apropriate for 2- to 4 year old up to seniors, are the Oak Leaf Program in the summer for ages 10-11 that includes primitive crafts; Butterfly Day the second Friday in August; the Acorn Program for ages 2-4, that offers age-appropriate crafts and programs; backyard basics for adults, which offers primitive crafts such as rughooking, felting, oilcloths; and crafts and other programs throughout the year. Art shows and exhibits offered June-August in the main house. Barnyard Day each October where children build a life-size scarecrow.
